Privacy Policy

Privacy that matches how Bardog actually works.

This Privacy Policy explains what Bardog collects, how we use it, what other users can see, and how you can delete your account. Last updated April 2, 2026.

What We Collect

Account data, profile details, dog profiles, reviews, photos, and in-use location when you choose to provide them.

What Is Public

Your profile, dog profiles, reviews, review photos, follows, and likes can be visible to other Bardog users.

How We Use It

To authenticate your account, show venues, power community features, and improve app reliability.

Your Control

You can edit or delete your content and delete your account in the app, which removes your account records and uploaded images from our service.

1. Scope

Bardog is a dog-friendly venue discovery and review service. This Privacy Policy applies to the Bardog mobile app, the Bardog website that links to this policy, and the related support experience.

By using Bardog, you acknowledge that we process personal information as described here. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in four main categories:

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are handled through our authentication provider and are not displayed publicly in Bardog.
  • Profile and dog information. You may add a profile photo, bio, dog names, dog profile details such as breed, age, size, sex, and dog photos.
  • Community content. We collect reviews, review text, review tags, venue submissions, likes, follows, and any photos you upload with reviews or your profile.
  • Location and device information. If you grant permission, Bardog reads your device location while the app is in use so it can show nearby venues. We also store session tokens and app preferences, such as onboarding, privacy, and notification settings, on your device.

We also receive venue-related business information from third-party data sources such as Google Places, including venue names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, and place photos. That venue information is not treated as your personal information unless you submit or modify it through Bardog.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and secure your Bardog account.
  • Show you nearby dog-friendly venues and venue details.
  • Display your profile, reviews, photos, follows, and likes inside the community.
  • Allow you to add venues, upload photos, and tag your dogs in reviews.
  • Operate storage, database, support, and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Detect abuse, enforce our terms, and protect the service.

We do not sell your personal information. If Bardog adds materially different data practices in the future, we will update this policy before those practices go live.

4. Sharing and Visibility

Bardog is a community product. Some information is meant to be visible to other users so the service can function.

  • Visible to other users: your display name, profile photo, bio, dog profiles, reviews, review photos, follow relationships, like activity, and venue submissions associated with your account.
  • Not shown publicly by default: your email address, password, and session credentials.
  • Location: Bardog uses your device location to personalize venue discovery while the app is open. We do not publish your device location to other users as part of the current service.

We may disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect users or Bardog, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.

5. Service Providers

Bardog relies on service providers that process information on our behalf to operate the product. These currently include:

  • Supabase for authentication, database hosting, and file storage.
  • Google Places and related Google mapping links for venue metadata, place photos, and map destinations.

These providers receive the information required to perform their functions, subject to their own terms and privacy commitments.

6. Retention and Deletion

We retain account information and community content for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate Bardog, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You can delete your account from the app at Profile → Privacy → Delete Account. When you do, Bardog removes your account records, community content, and uploaded profile and review images from our service. Some residual backup or log data may persist for a limited time in routine system backups.

7. Your Choices

  • You can edit your profile, dog profiles, and reviews inside the app.
  • You can deny location permission or turn it off in device settings.
  • You can control local notification and privacy preferences in the app.
  • You can request help or ask privacy questions by emailing support.

8. Children's Privacy

Bardog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Bardog, contact us and we will investigate.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version here and revise the last-updated date above.

10. Contact

For privacy questions, support requests, or deletion issues, contact support@bardog.io.

If Bardog later adds a separate web product with analytics, newsletters, or other user flows, this policy should be expanded before those features go live.
